Phishing scams
A common way to scam pepole is the phishing scam. Basically it means that the scammers have built a webpage that look very much like a real one,
usually imitating a bank, ebay or paypal. Then they send out millions of emails to pepole (emails identical to those beeing sent out by the
real company). These emails contains a link and some text telling the reciever that he must update his account settings etc. When someone clicks
on the link, they are redirected to the false webpage (that looks the same as the original). At the false page, the victim thinks he's logging in
to for example his paypal account, but actually he's just storing his login id and password in the scammers database. Now the scammers will log in
on the victims paypal account and take the money or buy stuff that they need. So, always check where the links you get in your inbox are taking you.
It could be very clever links, like www.playpal.com instead of www.paypal.com.
